I believe you only need TWBT to Create a New World or play Adventure Mode I don't think you need TWBT to play Fortress Mode in an existing world. Or download the DFHack Lazy Mac Pack and set your Print Mode to TWBT. Then if you want to play Dwarf Fortress on your M1 Mac, install TWBT and set your Print_Mode to TWBT.
